2012 was filled with beautiful bridesmaid dresses. It was so nice to see that my brides did not limit their friends to only one dress in some instances. But sometimes picking a dress that would flatter everyone in your entourage is difficult. On top of that, you need to find dresses that will be a good fit for the season. I am no expert on this matter but after a few years I can at least give a few tips on how to find a perfect dress for your girlfriends.
1 – DON’T LIMIT YOUR BRIDESMAIDS TO ONE DRESS: Thinking outside the box sometimes can be fun. Each one of those girls have a different personality and body type so imagine how happy they will be when you tell them that they have the chance to pick their own style but in the same color as everyone else.
2 – IF YOU CAN’T DO #1: But still want to be a little flexible, offer them options. Dresses with different lengths, cuts or sleeves. This way, every girl can pick a dress that makes them feel beautiful and ultimately be happy with what you picked for them.
3 – Avoid the “bridesmaid dress” cliche by shopping at a boutique or department store instead of just “the bridesmaid dress” store. This can make a big difference in color and the fact that they “will” be able to use it later.
4 – PICK FLATTERING COLORS but stay current: Here is a link from Society Bride of a beautiful MINT & MELON styled shoot for some ideas. Don’t forget to scroll all the way down for some palette inspiration!
In the meantime here are some inspiration from my 2012 brides….Enjoy!!!and have a great week.
And don’t forget…a bridesmaid dress should not be something to fight about with your besties…so assigning your maid of honor to listen and communicate back to you can be a great idea; don’t forget to listen to your friend’s wants and needs. This is your day and I am sure your friends will do their best to make you happy!!!
Pinterest is a great place to gather your thoughts and ideas. Is a wonderful medium for inspiration and now a days is a great way for your vendors to see exactly what you like. Forget about trying to describe what you want, here you can SHOW us what you want. I love finding my bride’s Pinterest boards and get a sense of who they are and what they expect from me!!!!So PIN AWAY!
