I recently had the pleasure of doing headshots for

I recently had the pleasure of doing headshots for the Glam Chats event at @bexandcosalon. It was a fantastic experience, though I have to admit, capturing someone’s essence in just two minutes can be a bit challenging.

In my view, getting to know your subject is key to creating a portrait that truly reflects who they are. Not every pose works for everyone, just like not every outfit suits every person. Think of it this way—would you wear a black outfit if you’re known for your love of vibrant, colorful dresses?

Even with the time constraint, I made sure to ask a few quick questions to help bring out each person’s unique personality. But if you really want your true self to shine through, a longer session might be more beneficial for both you and your photographer.

I still can’t get over @_nikki__b_ ‘s session and I wanted to share a few things we did to prepare for her session:

❣️ We scheduled a call to talk about the reasons for the session, plan her outfits and decide on locations/time.

👗 She sent me photos of several clothing options ahead of her photography session which helped us streamline her choices to make the most of the time and location.
