“Es mi sueño ponerme una Pollera de Lujo.” “I drea

“Es mi sueño ponerme una Pollera de Lujo.”
“I dream of one day wearing a Pollera de Lujo.”

That’s what my friend Yadee shared with me months ago as we sat at our favorite lunch spot. Her words were tender and honest and filled with the kind of longing only someone who grew up in Panamá can truly feel.

We were born and raised on this little isthmus of color, rhythm, and tradition. And since we were little girls, we watched in awe as women stepped into their Polleras, each one a masterpiece, a treasure, a legacy.

You see, owning a Pollera de Lujo is rare, even for Panamanians. These dresses aren’t simply made, they are crafted. Every stitch is sewn by hand, every detail shaped by artisans who learned this art from generations before them. A Pollera can take years to complete, not only because of luxury, but because of the love, patience, and devotion poured into every thread.

And the beauty doesn’t stop at the dress. To wear a Pollera is to wear:

✨ Tembleques, each one handmade and never identical
✨ Delicate peinetas and shimmering gold jewelry
✨ Bracelets, rings, shoes—all chosen with intention and respect for tradition

When I thought of what to gift my beautiful friend, I realized the most meaningful thing wasn’t something material, it was that dream I share with her. Watching her eyes fill with happy tears filled my eyes too. It was a moment I will hold close to my heart (see video at the end).

A huge thank you to my dear friend @lorenadaniel2 who shared this stunning Pollera and who, like me, didn’t hesitate for a second to help make someone’s dream come true. Lorena, thank you - from the bottom of my heart 💕

Something very cool is in the works at @bexandcosalon and I was lucky enough to have my amazing assistant @lizettemlawhon there to capture some behind-the-scenes magic!

Spending the afternoon with the Bex&Co Ambassador Team (and of course, the visionary herself, @alsoknownasbex) was pure energy. From laughter and teamwork to some seriously stylish moments, this shoot was all about celebrating creativity and connection.

A gift to your future self.

Yesterday, a parent reached out about senior portraits. After I shared my session details, she replied with honesty; her son doesn’t enjoy photos, doesn’t smile much, and she couldn’t justify the investment.

I completely understood her feelings. But I also shared something that has stayed true throughout my years behind the camera: I’ve never once regretted having photos taken, and I’ve never had a parent tell me they wished they hadn’t done it.

The truth is, time moves faster than we realize. Seniors grow, families change, and these little windows of life are gone before we know it. Photographs become a way to hold onto those fleeting seasons, something tangible to look back on and treasure long after the moment has passed.

I feel deeply grateful that through my work, I can help preserve these milestones. Portraits aren’t just pictures; they’re reminders of who we were, how we loved, and the beauty of a season that will never return in quite the same way.

These are all the gifts I gave my future self:

Image2: The last photo I took of my beloved grandmother before she passed away. I treasure this photo with all my heart. I can almost hear her telling me to make her look young at 93 🥹

Image3: A photo of my husband @luisbonrock - and this could just be a photo but the meaning behind it is that this man has always been my support. Till this day I ask him to pose for me and he does it.

Image4: My gorgeous baby because she asked me to take her photo, and yes - 🙌 I was excited because she used to not like me photographing her (the curse of the photographer 😜).

Image5: That time she wore that sweater all the time and I am sure she will look at these and have fun memories when she is an adult.
