As a branding and portrait photographer for business entrepreneurs, I’m often asked about the process of scheduling a session with me. It’s a great question, and one I’m excited to address on my blog. Below, I’ve outlined the key steps I take when you reach out to book your session, so you’ll know exactly what to expect from start to finish.
BRANDING WORKFLOW
PROCESS
- Contract & Retainer: The process begins with signing the contract and submitting the retainer fee. Full payment is due 7 days before the session.
- Client Questionnaire: The client completes a detailed questionnaire to help us understand their vision and preferences.
- Brainstorming Call: A call to discuss ideas, expectations, and any specific requests to ensure we’re aligned.
- Location Selection: Based on the client’s preferences, we choose the perfect location for the shoot.
- Style Guide PDF: A comprehensive guide on what photographs best, helping clients feel prepared and confident on the day of the shoot.
- Social Media Sneak Peeks: Within 24-48 hours of the session, we share a few preview images on social media to give clients an early look at their photos.
- Gallery Edits: Final edited gallery will be ready in 10-12 days.
- Proofs: Some clients may receive a gallery of 70-80 proof images with partial edits to help them select their final choices.
- Image Delivery: Images are delivered through an online gallery for easy downloading and sharing.
- USB: A USB drive with all the edited images is also provided for convenient access.
HOW I WORK
- Collaboration
I come prepared with a clear vision, but always incorporate input from the client. We start by recreating the poses and scenarios the client envisions, then I introduce my own creative direction to help the client feel more comfortable and confident in front of the camera. - Support
I work with an assistant who helps with logistics, such as adjusting props, ensuring everything is in place, and supporting the shoot so we stay on track.
PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE
- Branding & Headshots
My approach to branding and headshots is timeless and well-lit, with an emphasis on natural light. I’ll incorporate creative shots and any specific requests from the client, ensuring a balance between professionalism and personality. - Lighting
I begin with natural light as it’s most flattering, but will use off-camera lighting as needed to create the perfect look. - Proof Edits
Initial edits focus on exposure and a consistent editing style.
• • Final Edits
Once the client selects their final images, I’ll apply more detailed edits, such as smoothing skin texture, correcting vertical lines, and fixing stray hairs or other minor edits.
